Supporting a Trash-free Lunch in Colorado

Kristen Baker, a kindergarten teacher in Colorado believes in zero waste living. She believes early childhood habits can go a long way in shaping a child’s mindset. Last week, Kristen arranged a Trash-free lunch at her kindergarten and educated the kids about the ill effects of waste (in any form), and ways to have a zero waste lunch.

We sent in some bags for her 26 students and the kids were so excited!

These pictures are the testimony

As an organization committed to reducing the use of throwaway plastic bags that is literally trash, we are proud of what Kristen is doing. She has documented her experiences, adventures, and teachings on her blog http://ayearofgreatness.blogspot.com/

Earlier too, Kristen has organized several trash free campaigns, this one time she did it with some replay recycle containers to teach her kids the importance of reusing and recycling.

Another time she used some reusable trays and utensils for a hot trash free lunch and some reusable cups for a tea party.

Some wonderful people keep donating things for Kristen’s class, time and again and I think it is amazing how we all hold the same agenda of reducing trash and making our planet a better place to live.

Companies like Bumkins have in the past sent some reusable snack bags to the kids, and the polar society in a bid to teach the kids about the reducing numbers of polar bears due to climate change sent some cool polar bear t-shirts to Kristen and her colleagues and some goodies for the kids.

It is so so heartwarming to see some great work going around. We would love to be a part of something like this over and over again.

If you have a program that advocates climate change and its effects, ethical production, sustainable consumerism, zero-waste living, and slow fashion, don’t hesitate to contact us.

We would love to get in touch with you and help you in whatever way we can.
