Plastic v/s The Bottle Cap Challenge

Challenges always garner a lot of attention from individuals and celebs. You know it when your social media is flooded with a lot of similar posts of the same hashtags, where people try to take the challenge and end up making fun videos. You know what we are talking about. The bottle cap challenge. It is doing rounds with the hashtag #bottlecapchallenge where people try to unscrew a bottle cap off the bottle with a roundhouse kick, without knocking off the bottle.

Currently, there are about a million posts with the hashtag #bottlecapchallenge on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Tumblr, and Pinterest.

Two years ago around this time, #thefloorislava was doing rounds as the new fun challenge. It is a game where the players pretend that the floor is hot lava hence when anyone shouts the floor is lava, they jump and avoid touching the ground. It went crazy viral.

In 2014, we saw the #icebucketchallenge doing rounds which involved dumping of a bucket of ice and water over a person’s head (oneself’s) to raise awareness about the disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Viral trends come and go, but what is really viral that will stay even after a million years?

                                                               PLASTIC BOTTLES

About 38 million plastic bottles go to the landfill every year in the United States. 80% of the plastic bottles produced never gets recycled. This leaves us with a question.

What should we really kick? The plastic cap or the bottle?

What we really need is to #kickthebottle, not the cap.

Check out our new initiative to bring plastic awareness where we #kickthebottle not the cap.
